Easter Cards with docrafts
With the help of some Xcut dies and bright papers these fun but traditional cards can be made in no time at all
These cards not only celebrate the arrival of Easter but also the arrival of spring; the vibrant and cheerful Capsule Brights papers helping us celebrate that the long, dark nights are over as we head to sunnier days. The white backgrounds push the wonderful colours out, with 3D foam squares lifting the elements off the page to give more dimension to the scenes. The edges of each section and all the panels have been inked to add softness to the bold colours but this also helps them stand off the page. To really personalise your card, print sentiments from a computer or apply a topper sentiment and add adhesive stones for a touch of sparkle to these warm, sunny cards.
Chick Easter card
Who doesn’t adore the image of an Easter chick popping out of his egg? A landscape layout on a card such as this creates a great opportunity to design a whole scene on a card. Emboss the white background panel with a blossom stripes folder and layer on Capsule Brights spotted paper to create a bold frame.
Die cut the chicks from various sizes of nesting dies and then piece together; the wings and tail are die cut from heart nesting dies and the body from ovals, while an oval cut in half with a jagged line makes a great cracked egg. Adding adhesive stones for the chicks’ eyes and inking each section help the focal points stand out from the page. The Xcut English Countryside Borders dies make fantastic grass, with the green ink on the edges giving extra definition. Add to the rustic, natural look with a length of raffia across the top of the card, tied into a bow. Layer together small punched daisy and petal flowers to create detail and add the finishing touches with more adhesive stones.
Eggs Easter card
The white background, embossed with a woodgrain folder, gives this card a wonderfully fresh feel and the layering on kraft cardstock helps bring out the natural, spring-like tones. Create perfect egg shapes with Xcut’s Nesting Easter Eggs Dies and bring a co-ordinated, finished look to the card with panels of paper in designs that co-ordinate with those on the die-cut eggs.
Die cut several sizes of nesting Easter egg dies from various patterns of both striped and spotted paper for the eggs, tucking them between two layers of grass, die cut using the English countryside borders die. Add texture and colour by wrapping ribbon and raffia around the card and give a lovely finishing touch and the feeling of being in a meadow with miniature flowers, punched using the daisy and petal palm punches.
